Experience

Freelance Design and illustration  2021 - Current

Design and illustration of mainly posters and flyers for music events. Layouts, typography and screen printing as well as album art. 

Manatū taonga, Ministry for Culture and Heritage digital production editor - December 2022 - September 2025 

Publishing, production and management of multiple well known websites such as Te Ara Encyclopedia of New Zealand, NZHistory, 28th Māori Battalion, Te Tai Treaty Stories and the Ministry’s corporate site. Primary focus was on the user experience and accessibility of our sites and information. Alongside this I also managed public enquires for these sites which often included assisting members of the public with research enquiries and pointing them in the right direction. 

Skills: Content management, customer enquiries, HTML, User Experience design, graphic design, website building, research and writing, wire framing and information architecture. This role needed a strong understanding of history resources and databases as well as the technical skills required to build and update websites. 

Third Eye Hi-Fi  Soundsystem crew member - 2022 - 2024

Was a key organiser of close to 40 events and gigs including festivals like Twisted Frequency. This involved; organising the transport and logistics of moving the gear and system in and out of venues, understanding correct cabling, running marketing and doing the design and illustration of posters and flyers, organising ticketing and door management, occasional sound teching of gigs, and crowd care

Te Papa  Tongarewa Imaging Technician - November 2021- December 2022

End to end  photographing of collection items. Large scale project digitising Te Papa’s Spencer Digby photographic collection.  This role was largely focused on expanding the public’s access to this collection. My role encompassed the digitisation of old film as well as the cataloguing and describing of collections for use by museum staff in the back of house database and the public facing website.

Skills: Producing high quality images with accuracy and efficient with high numbers. Workflow management, metadata management and descriptive writing. Working within a small and fast-paced team. Understanding of copyright and rights clearances. Rights and rights clearance management alongside collection management and care. 

ACC NEW ZEALAND TEMPORARY ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT - OCTOBER - November 2021

Short term temporary role doing redaction work and other administrative tasks for the privacy team at ACC. Required ability to work independently with sensitive information and make calls on rights and privacy concerns.

Archives NZ Digitisation Assistant - October 2019- February 2021

End to end process of digitising some of Archives collection of paper and photographic material. Work also required me to take requests from members of the public and to assist Archivists with research.  

Skills: Administration of large spreadsheet. Workflow management, metadata management. Updating online records. Shelving and physical file management and general collection management.

Auckland University Students Assoc. Culture & Communications Officer  2016-2018

I held this elected position for two years. My key responsibilities were advocation for cultural groups and creative students on campus as well as the running of AUSA’s social media.  

Skills: Content writing and management for both social media, the Association website and the student magazine.  Accessibility standards and clear communication. Speaking with and for a variety of audiences with a multitudes of needs and wants

Manatū taonga, Ministry for Culture and Heritage Pioneer Battalion Project, Gallipoli Numbers Project 2014 – 2015

Pioneer Battalion research for Dr. Monty Soutar. Gallipoli Numbers unclassified in conjunction with NZ Defence. These roles required in depth knowledge of files, movements, base names and use of datasets and archive systems. It also required competency in databases and Excel.  

Te Ara Web editing 2014– 2015

Basic editing of format of articles on Te Ara- New Zealand’s Encyclopedia. This role involved me editing the resource databases and cleaning up references, hyperlinks and general editing.  Role required basic HTML coding and knowledge of Te Ara and it’s back-end.  

28 Maori Battalion Website  2011–2014

My role was uploading photographs and writing captions for the website as well as the digitisation of all war diaries from the 28 Battalion in World War Two.
